Wait For Me by Jo Huddleston

WAIT FOR ME (Book 1 in the West Virginia Mountains Series)
A sweet Southern historical romance
by Jo Huddleston
wait for me
Can Julie, an only child raised with privilege and groomed for high society, and Robby, a coal miner’s son, escape the binds of their socioeconomic backgrounds? Set in a coal mining community in West Virginia in the 1950s, can their love survive their cultural boundaries?

Wait for Me is a tragically beautiful love story of a simple yet deep love between two soul mates, Robby and Julie. The American South’s rigid caste system and her mother demand that Julie chooses to marry an ambitious young man from a prominent and suitable family. Julie counters her mother’s stringent social rules with deception and secrets in order to keep Robby in her life. Can the couple break the shackles of polite society and spend their lives together?

A Review:

“Jo Huddleston’s characters come to life as does this sweet and wonderful mid-century love story about two young people who come from different spectrums of society. Julie’s mother, a rather snobbish socialite, has her mind set on Julie marrying someone of wealth and prominence; however, what Julie’s heart dictates regarding the man with whom she’s falling in love, Robby, a coal miner’s son, and what her mother deems acceptable by no means match up. This author writes with colorful detail, setting us body and soul into the story. This is the first in a series titled “West Virginia Mountains.” I already look forward to the subsequent installments.

patty

Patty grew up just outside of Atlanta, hearing family stories of gallant men and gutsy ladies. Those early tales whetted her appetite for history and by the age of eleven, Patty had plowed through all the history books and biographies in the county library. At age fifteen, Patty wrote her first novel, a satire of a Gothic novel, for her tenth grade English class. She received an A plus, but even more, her teacher encouraged her to keep writing.

Patty received her degree in nursing from Kennesaw State University and worked in various areas such as research and high risk infant care. But even with her love of nursing, Patty still studied the craft of writing, listening to writing tapes during her daily commute. With the birth of her daughters, her attention shifted to her home life and raising two busy little girls. Between church activities, volunteer work and extended family, her life was full.

But the desire to write never wavered. In 2000, with her girls growing up and life settling into a routine, Patty began studying the craft of writing. She first found publishing success with her short stories in the God Allows U-Turns series as well as Chicken Soup for the Nurse’s Soul; a Second Dose and Guidepost magazine. Her debut novel, Hearts in Flight, won the 2008 American Christian Fiction Writer’s Genesis Award in historical romance and was picked by Publisher’s Weekly as a top inspirational read for the 2011 spring and summer season.

Patty lives with her husband of 31 years in North Georgia and finds her greatest joy in spending time with her family and friends.
